Biaxin (Clarithromycin) is an antibiotic prescribed to treat respiratory infections, ear or skin infections. These include bacterial infections such as strep throat, pneumonia, sinusitis, tonsillitis, acute ear infections and acute bronchitis.

The most frequently reported adverse events in taking Biaxin are diarrhea, nausea, abnormal taste, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, and headache.

Additionally, studies show that the Biaxin increases the risk of heart disease; especially it increases the mortality in patients with stable coronary heart disease.
