Volkswagen Timing Chain Class Action
September 2016 – Merchant Law Group LLP has launched Canada-wide class action litigation before the Canadian Courts regarding Volkswagen (VW) and Audi models manufactured between 2008 and 2013, asserting that the same VW/Audi vehicles suffer from a serious engine defect.
The vehicles in question come equipped with 2.0-liter EA888 engines. The tensioning system includes a device called a chain tensioner, which is designed to make sure the timing chain works properly. The timing chain keeps the camshaft and the crankshaft in sync, helping ensure the valves and pistons function correctly. However, the VW/Audi timing chain lawsuits assert that if the chain malfunctions, that can bend valves and result in extensive engine damage.
