2007 - Merchant Law Group LLP has launched lawsuits against the manufacturer of Avandia (GlaxoSmithKline) and other Defendants, as reported by CTV News and other media.

Avandia is an anti-diabetic drug, used by people with Type 2 Diabetes to bring down blood sugar levels. Side effects from using Avandia can include cold-like symptoms, headaches, vision loss, swelling on many parts of the body, hepatitis, weight gain, tiredness or weakness, serious heart problems and other conditions.

As part of pursuing compensation for all Canadians who have used Avandia, class action lawsuits have been filed by our law firm in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland.

2009 - Court application (along with over 20 expert and class members affidavits) was filed with the Court seeking national certification of a class action against the makers of Avandia on behalf of all Canadians.
