A successful compromise settlement was been reached with GM, although liability was not admitted by GM. The settlement was announced publicly in mid-2008 and notice was given to potential Canadian class members by way of a court-approved Public Notice Program, which included various newspaper advertising. The deadline for GM vehicle owners to apply for compensation was April 30, 2009.
