Vioxx Class Action

(Updated January, 2012)
A tentative Canadian class action settlement regarding Vioxx has recently been announced, which if approved by the Canadian Courts, provides a specified class of former users of Vioxx the opportunity to seek individual compensation for their injuries.
In 2004, Merchant Law Group LLP launched nation-wide class action litigation against the makers of Vioxx on behalf of all affected Canadians who had used this prescription drug (as well as on behalf of families whose relatives may have passed away as a result of using Vioxx), as did other plaintiff law firms. Various Vioxx litigation has been pursued since then by Merchant Law Group.
The 2012 Vioxx class action settlement provides that Canadians who while using Vioxx suffered a heart attack, stroke, or other serious cardiovascular conditions (medically defined as a myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, or sudden cardiac death) are entitled to seek compensation from the class action settlement fund.
