Accutane Class Action

May 21st, 2021 Update

On October 8, 2010, Brad Stevenson commenced a proposed class proceeding, with Merchant Law Group as counsel, against Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. regarding Accutane®. Mr. Stevenson does not intend to continue with the claim. A similar Saskatchewan class action is continuing (see below). The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has approved the dismissal of the Stevenson proceeding, and it will stand as dismissed as of July 12, 2021.

January 2020 Update

The application for certification of the Saskatchewan proceeding as a class action was argued before the Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon. (As of May 2021, a decision has not yet been rendered by the Court.)


Merchant Law Group LLP has launched class action lawsuits against Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd seeking compensation for Canadian residents who have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease after ingestion of Accutane, RoAccutane, Accutane Roche, or Clarus. This proposed class action litigation has not yet been certified.


If you or a member of your family used Accutane, RoAccutane, Accutane Roche, or Clarus and were subsequently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis or Corhn’s disease, we encourage you to keep any packaging, prescription records, or other documents you may have regarding Accutane. You may require this information in the future.
