Proposed Zofran Class Action
Merchant Law Group LLP is pursuing class action litigation against GlaxoSmithKline and other manufacturers of the drug ZOFRAN on behalf of Canadians who used Zofran while pregnant, and subsequently encountered birth defects.
Zofran (ondansetron) is a prescription drug that has been approved by the FDA to treat extreme cases of nausea and vomiting following chemotherapy or surgery. Zofran has been prescribed off-label to treat morning sickness in pregnant women.
Studies have found that taking Zofran during pregnancy increases the risk of the baby developing heart defects, mouth defects such as cleft palate or cleft lip, and musculoskeletal abnormalities.
It is alleged that the drug manufacturers failed to adequately warn Canadians of the risks associated with Zofran and that the warning remains inadequate.
