Covid-19 (Coronavirus) has caused the deaths of many elderly Canadians in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and long-term care homes. According to media reports, these facilities may account for 42% of Covid-19 deaths. Many of these deaths could have been prevented, and efforts to contain outbreaks of Covid-19 were hindered and hampered by a lack of appropriate staff training; failure to thoroughly disinfect common areas; failure to adequately quarantine and/or isolate residents and staff displaying symptoms; and failure to maintain an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (including masks) for residents and staff.
Merchant Law Group LLP is assessing wrongful death claims from across Canada, on behalf of those whose family members have died in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and long-term care homes due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
