Home Depot Meta Privacy Breach Class Action

2023 – Merchant Law Group LLP has launched a proposed Canada-wide class action lawsuit on behalf of some Home Depot customers who agreed between 2018 to 2022 provided an email address while paying for goods at Home Depot stores in the below Canadian provinces.

This proposed class action asserts that Home Depot then shared such customer data with Meta, the parent company of Facebook. The class definition concerning this litigation is: “all persons (including individuals and businesses) who between May 1, 2018 and October 31, 2022 (the “Class Period”) made one or more purchases from a physical Home Depot store in Canada (or in the alternative as may be determined by the Court, located in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba, or Newfoundland and Labrador) AND at the time of checkout, provided his or her e-mail address to Home Depot in order to obtain an electronic receipt.”
