Jumbo Cheerios Mislabeling Class Action

Merchant Law Group LLP is pursuing class action litigation against General Mills regarding the misleading labeling of Jumbo/Family Size 2-pack “Honey Nut Cheerios” and “Multi Grain Cheerios” breakfast cereals. In particular, when sold as a 2-pack:

each box of Honey Nut Cheerios is incorrectly labeled as containing 1.3kg of Honey Nut Cheerios, and
each box of Multi Grain Cheerios is incorrectly labeled as containing 1.01kg of Multi Grain Cheerios

… when in each case the advertised weight is the weight of product contained in both boxes combined.

This class action seeks financial compensation for Canadian residents who received only 50% of the cereal that they expected to receive based on the labeling.

How does a class action lawsuit work?

In a class action lawsuit, multiple victims band together to hold a company accountable for the harm they’ve caused. Often, when a company hurts many people at once it becomes very difficult to take them back to court again and again for multiple personal injury cases. Instead, all of the injured parties work together to bring their grievances to court.

Merchant Law Group LLP has 10 offices across Canada, with lawyers practising law in six provinces. Merchant Law Group LLP is well-known for pursuing class action lawsuits in Canada including successful litigation regarding Winners/HomeSense, GM Gasket Manifolds, Maple Leaf Foods, Celebrex/Bextra, Vioxx, Sony, Residential Schools and various other consumer protection cases.
