Yahoo Email Data Breach Class Action

Merchant Law Group LLP is pursuing national class action litigation on behalf of all Canadian Yahoo!’s email accountholders affected by the below privacy breaches.

The Yahoo Data Breach announcement on September 22, 2016, admitted:

The personal information of at least 500 million users was stolen in an attack on its accounts in 2014, exposing a wide swath of its roughly 1 billion users ahead of Verizon Communications Inc.’s planned acquisition of the Web portal’s assets.

The attacker was a “state-sponsored actor,” and stolen information may include names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, encrypted passwords and, in some cases, unencrypted security questions and answers.

This class action litigation seeks financial compensation for Canadian customers affected by Yahoo’s 2013 and 2014 Data Breaches.  More than five million Canadians saw personal information stolen in these privacy breaches at Yahoo! including their names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords, and of particular concern, their security questions and answers.
