Kanwar obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Surrey. Prior to this, he pursued his undergraduate studies at McMaster University where he majored in Economics with a minor in Humanities and Psychology.

During law school, Kanwar was the Treasurer for his Law Society and participated with the Law Students’ Legal Advice. He was also a council member for the Brampton Youth Council in Ontario, where he was committed to ensuring young voices were heard and the City’s services and programs reflected the diverse needs of its youth population.
