Blaze in senior residence hospitalizes three

CALGARY, AB – Three residences at Citadel Mews West Continuing Care Facility were hospitalized after a fire broke out, reports Global News.

Of the three hospitalized, two were for smoke inhalation and the other sustained minor lacerations from the incident.

Firefighters responded to 15 Erin Ridge Road after receiving reports of the fire around 7:52 p.m. Thursday night.

The nearly 170 residents of the facility were moved to the St. Albert Inn for the moment.

Authorities do not know what caused the fire but investigators believe it started on the lower floor and then traveled upwards to the roof.
