News: 2 killed, 1 injured in motorcycle crash on Hwy 1A near Cochrane

COCHRANE, AB – Two people are dead and a third is injured following a crash involving three motorcycles on Highway 1A yesterday evening.

Global News reports that the incident happened at around 6:45 p.m., about halfway between the towns of Cochrane and Canmore. A group of three motorcycles was traveling west on the highway, while a lone motorcyclist approached them from the east. One of the motorcyclists in the group strayed into the oncoming lanes, where he collided with the eastbound motorcycle. A third motorcyclist attempted to steer out of the way of that collision but was unable to.

Emergency responders pronounced two men dead at the scene. They transported a third person, a woman in her 30s, to Canmore General Hospital with minor injuries.

Further investigations are ongoing.
