News: 1 killed, 1 injured following crash on highway near Alix

ALIX, AB – One person was killed and another was injured on Saturday afternoon when their vehicles collided at a highway intersection near Alix.

Global News reports that the collision happened at about 12:45 p.m. on April 17, when a vehicle traveling north on Highway 601 slammed into a vehicle headed east on Highway 12. The first vehicle overturned, killing its 58-year-old driver.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported via helicopter to a nearby hospital in serious but stable condition.

RCMP is investigating.
