News: Spruce Cliff home, detached garage, and neighboring garage damaged in house fire

CALGARY, AB- The Calgary Fire Department was called to a house fire in Spruce Cliff at approximately 12:30 a.m., where flames and smoke could be seen from a distance, Global News reports.

A home and detached garage were on fire in the 3700 block of 8 Ave SW with winds blowing the flames to another home nearby.

There were three people in the home at the time, and all were able to get out of the house without major injury. One of the residents suffered minor burns, but he was treated at the scene and released.

Fire crews used aerial water methods to prevent the fire from spreading further. CFD also asked neighboring homes to be evacuated as a precaution while they extinguished the fire.

A neighboring home’s garage and vehicles were also damaged.

As they conduct their investigation, The CFD requests that anyone with who photos, video, or other pertinent information about the fire, especially prior to their arrival, to reach out via email to piofire@calgary.ca
